What is Underwriting? WHYR is a non-commercial community radio station supported by contributions and not by advertising. When you make a business contribution, your support is acknowledged on air; this is called underwriting. Why Underwrite at WHYR? As an alternative to advertising, underwriting is a great way for your business or organization to gain community-wide recognition for your support of WHYR and its commitment to quality and diverse programming. In addition to being a wise investment, the on-air acknowledgements enhance your image as participants in and supporters of organizations in our community. WHYR has the ability to reach over 200,000 listeners in Baton Rouge. Underwriting will enhance your image as a participant in and supporter of the community. WHYR is a non-profit station, which means your underwriting support is tax-deductible.
